5 Epic New Years Eve Party Themes and Ideas

New Years Eve confetti partyWhat?  The year is almost over?  That’s okay, because a new one is about to begin and in between the old and the new you squeeze in the most epic annual party:  New Years Eve!  Rather than do something ‘routine’ this year, mix it up with a creative theme party and give your nightclub, bar or home something to look forward to.  Here are 5 epic New Years Eve party themes and ideas you should consider:

1.  All White Party Theme

It’s a really simple theme: partygoers dress in fashionable all white attire.  Despite its simplicity, the end result is a party that displays elegance, sophistication and class.  The all white party theme is great for wintery weather when snow is in the air and eggnog cocktails are in style.  You can decorate tables with white cloths and flickering white candles and do a New Years Eve ball drop as white bulk confetti falls.  The best part of all is that you won’t find too many people getting sloppy or spilling drinks because there’s no way to hide it!

2.  80s Black Light Party Theme

Nothing says, “we’re heading into a new year” like stepping back in time, right? Retro 80s style clothing and endless black light are a fantastic way to make your nighttime party glow in the dark!  Pump fan favorite 80s music to start it off right and serve neutral-tone foods and drinks like Brie cheese, hummus, and martinis to give everything a supernatural glow.  When the clock strikes midnight, shoot off white Corkscrews confetti from a Red Blower and make the scene even eerier (as if that was possible)!

3.  Celebrity Party Theme

Roll out the red carpet for this one, literally.  A celebrity party theme is your moment to pull out all the stops and live like you’re in Hollywood for one night only.  Photographers, red carpets, Champagne glasses, lounge chairs and Top 40 music are just a few of the elements that make up this kind of New Years Eve party.  You can even take it one step further and get guests (or at least some of them) to dress up like famous celebrities.  It’s a unique way to host a classy event and get people a little bit more excited about an already awesome night!

4.  Casino Night Party Theme

Tired of the same old eating, drinking and dancing party?  A casino night theme adds a new layer of entertainment to your New Years Eve party.  It doesn’t take much, besides a few tables, games and dealers, to transform your space into a Monte Carlo-style casino.  And when someone wins the night’s prizes?  Don’t just smile and cheer – hit them with a huge wave of confetti from a handheld MEGA Blaster or a floor-based Surprise Box.  Most importantly, everyone’s a winner when the clock strikes midnight and your party’s rated as a huge success!

5.  Fiesta Party Theme

Everyone could use a little extra spice in life and this fiesta party theme makes it happen.  Forget the standard New Years Eve fare – this party comes with spicy nachos, sweet and salty margaritas, noise-making maracas, and plenty of piñatas filled with anything you’d like!  It’s colorful, loud, funky and proud and the perfect place to hand out multi-colored 14” Flutter FETTI Confetti Sticks for the midnight countdown.  This is one New Years Eve party theme that you won’t forget and nor will any of your guests!

New Years Eve will be here before you know it, so this was your fair warning along with some helpful ideas for the big night.  There are a ton of great New Years Eve theme concepts out there and all of them are made better with a flutter of Flutter FETTI confetti!  For assistance on your New Years Eve confetti plans, contact Ronee Holmes, the FETTI Lady.

5 Big Ideas For Your New Year’s Eve Wedding Countdown

NYE Wedding with Flutter FETTIA New Year’s Eve wedding combines two of the greatest things in life – a special day surrounded by your family and friends with a special moment that only comes once a year.  You’re guaranteed to have higher attendance and everyone will already be in a celebratory mood.  Best of all, you don’t have to worry about work the next day, hangover or not.  Now that’s a great way to kick off the New Year!

Hosting a wedding on New Year’s Eve offers plenty of unique moments, while allowing you to maintain the traditional elements you crave.  Ceremonies, DJs, cakes, and first dances are still on the menu, but what you must account for is the final countdown.  When the clock strikes midnight, what do you do?

Here are the 5 best ways to celebrate your New Year’s Eve wedding countdown from your experts at Flutter FETTI:

The “Ball Drop” – New York City might have the most famous ball drop, but you can host your very own that’s closer, more fun, and way more intimate.  If dropping an actual ball isn’t your thing, then consider dropping balloons or bulk confetti.  You can customize colors and incorporate metallic confetti to make the effect extra dazzling.

Confetti & Streamer Shots – At New Year’s Eve, it’s go big or go home – and nobody wants to go home when you’re in the middle of a wedding.  A big blast of confetti from 6” Continuous Flow Confetti Gerb Launchers and a huge spray of streamers from handheld Master Blasters will surely do the trick and make this countdown one for the books!

Full Party Participation – Wedding guests love to be a part of your big moment, especially when that moment involves a countdown to midnight.  Give everyone a party pack with wild party hats and 9” Happy New Year Swisher Streamers that feature a hidden built-in noisemaker.  With everyone involved, the moment will feel so much more special.

Champagne & Sparklers – Give your countdown the glitz and glam it deserves by handing out bubbly and sparklers just before midnight.  The rising bubbles, sparkling glasses, and flickering light will create an atmosphere that screams New Year’s Eve (with a touch of class too).  Combine this countdown idea with a shot of confetti or streamers to put on the most surreal show.

Fireworks Show – If it fits in your budget and your venue allows it, then there’s no better way to cap off your wedding night and New Year’s Eve than with a spectacular fireworks show.  You’ll remember the moment for the rest of your life and your guests will too!

Just don’t forget to kiss your new spouse when the moment comes.  It’s your big wedding night and you want to start the New Year on the right foot!

New Years Resolutions – 7 Inexpensive Ways To Have More Fun This Year

The whole ‘recession’ and ‘fiscal cliff’ thing has made us a bit squeamish with our money.  Yet that’s no reason to give up on fun!  If you spent 2012 tightening the belt and skipping out on happy occasions, then spend 2013 keeping the belt tight while finding more ways to enjoy yourself.

When it comes to making exciting New Years Resolutions, Flutter FETTI® has it down pat.  Here are 7 inexpensive and pragmatic approaches to having more fun this year:

Resolution #1 – Spend more outdoor time with family and friends

Two decades after the World Wide Web was invented, we are all practically addicted to the Internet.  We may think we’re having fun online, but we’re really just wasting time and being anti-social.  Shut off the computer and the phone and get outside with your closest friends and family.  Hike to a waterfall, swim at a nearby lake, ski at a resort, or just walk through the woods.  The fresh air will feel SO good!

Resolution #2 – Throw a theme party at your home

Find something in your closet that you never wear – an old 80s getup, a cowboy-style vest, a Hawaiian shirt – and use that as inspiration for a party at your own house.  Then set up your own music list, pour out some snacks, pick up a few 6” Flutter Flickers (at less than $2 per piece), and make your own awesome punch to keep the party cost at a minimum.  Why throw a party?  If you invite someone to you house, they’ll be more likely to invite you to theirs!

Resolution #3 – Attend a local concert

Big-name bands equate to plus-sized prices.  Attend a local concert where you’ll discover lower ticket prices, smaller venues, and a more dedicated crowd.  Local bands are more likely to get intimate with the crowd (i.e. interacting more) and you might even discover some music you love… or someone to love the music with.

Resolutions #4 – Plan a (relatively free) date in the city

Okay, tolls, parking, gas, and babysitters often take up a big chunk of your date night budget.  But you can still get out to the city and have a hot date on the cheap while keeping it classy.  Have a picnic in the park, grab coffee at the trendy new café, visit a museum exhibit, browse the most expensive stores (and just browse), take photos at all the city’s famous monuments, or discover a new neighborhood.

Resolution #5 – Host a potluck summer barbecue

It doesn’t have to be Labor Day to turn on the grill.  Pick any nice weekend to get the charcoal burning, chill the beers, and invite your friends over.  If you make it a potluck barbecue, your friends will chip in to make potato salads, pick up meat, and supply drinks, making your own bill relatively low.  Outdoor activities like Frisbee golf are free.  And if you want some entertainment on the 4th of July, 14″ FireCracklers Confetti “Snappers” are a less expensive alternative to fireworks!

Resolution #6 – Travel somewhere completely new by car or train

Skip the hassle of flights and do a proper road trip (or rail trip)!  Travel somewhere you’ve never been before by car or train and you’ll discover how many wonderful things are closer to home than you realize.  A trip like this is often less expensive than even low-cost carrier flights and gives you a better appreciation for where you live.  In addition, you can pack as much as you want and you help out the local economy too – it’s a win-win!

Resolution #7 – Start an inexpensive hobby… by pre-purchasing

You hear it every year and you never do it.  That’s fine, we’ve been there too.  But this year make it happen.  Want to know how?  Pre-book something.  Spend the money now (it doesn’t have to be a lot) on something you haven’t done yet.  Sign up for a 5K running race, reserve a spot in a knitting class, or order a used guitar off Amazon.  If you spend the money now, you’re more likely to do it later and maybe you’ll finally start that new hobby!

Coolest Places to Celebrate New Years Eve

New Years Eve confetti celebration
We recently wrote an article about top 5 ways to celebrate New Years Eve and traveling to someplace new was one of the main suggestions.  We realize that there are so many places you can go and our goal is to help you narrow down the options.  Here are some of the coolest places to travel to celebrate New Years Eve:

New Orleans, LA, USA – The city that brings you Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras obviously knows how to party at New Years Eve too.  Skip the crowds at Times Square and join the revelry in NOLA’s Jackson Square.  Live music and a “baby drop” are just the beginning of the fun.  A 15-minute fireworks display lights up the sky and you can join in the excitement with your very own 14” FireCracklers Confetti “Snappers”.  The post-midnight madness stretches from river cruises to jazz clubs to Bourbon Street and is always amazing.

Vail, CO, USA – Whereas big cities offer few outdoor activities for cold weather, Vail and the other Colorado Rockies mountain towns offer skiing, sledding, ice skating, and a whole slew of other winter sports.  On New Years Eve, First Night activities are available for the young ones while those who are older (but young at heart) can break it down to DJs spinning at Dobson Arena, enjoy a champagne toast, and dance the night away under a blizzard of confetti.

Niagara Falls, ON, Canada – The mighty North American waterfall hosts an even mightier display of pyrotechnics on New Years Eve with two big fireworks shows!  Put on your furry coat and join the thousands of revelers who gather each year at Niagara Falls to hear big-name bands, burst out the countdown, and head to the casino for some late night fun.  If you can brave the chill, try a glass of ice wine, the locally produced drink.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil – On the opposite hemisphere where New Years Eve is hot and summery, Brazil knows how to celebrate best.  Hit the beach, Copacabana beach that is, to witness the most beautiful seaside fireworks in the country.  Then throw on your clubbing shoes and prepare to dance with the beautiful people of Brazil.  It’s so much fun, you’ll wish the night would never end.

Reykjavik, Iceland – The nights are long here, very long, so it’s no surprise that Icelanders know how to take advantage of the darkness.  On New Years Eve, huge bonfires and joyous fireworks displays light up the city all night long.   When the clock strikes 12, everyone hits the local bars for strong drinks, live music, and a convivial atmosphere that make long cold nights seem extra warm!

Berlin, Germany – The world’s largest organized New Year’s Eve party sprawls out over two kilometers in downtown Berlin.  Free shows, party tents, and tons of food and drink stalls give the million or so visitors plenty to do while they wait for the big countdown.  If you think the fireworks show of Brandenburg Gate was the end, then think again.  Berliners are known to party into the wee hours of the morning on a normal night – just wait until you see them on New Years Eve!

Istanbul, Turkey – East meets West at this magnificent metropolitan on the Bosphorus Strait.  It’s the only place in the world where you can easily celebrate New Years Eve in both Europe and Asia simultaneously.  Enjoy food and music that define traditional life here and then quickly move on to the nightlife scene that is reminiscent of other great European cities.  It’s an experience of a lifetime and one you won’t soon forget.

Sydney, Australia – Head ‘down under’ to witness the fireworks fly over the famous Harbour Bridge.  It’s one of the biggest televised fireworks displays in the world, but there’s nothing like seeing it in person.  Over a million people gather along the riverbanks to be enthralled by the music-synced program.

Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand – The islands of Thailand are well-known for their crystal clear water, soft sand beaches, and delicious food.  While you can easily enjoy a romantic getaway for New Years Eve, you can also come to this island for the world famous “full-moon party”.  The party rages from dusk until dawn so make sure to stuff yourself with plenty of scrumptious seafood before heading over to the beachside bars.

Kiritimati, Kiribati – If you can afford the time and cost to get here, this Pacific Island is an idyllic palm tree paradise.  Most importantly, due to the island’s proximity to the International Date Line, celebrating here means you get to be the first to usher in the New Year.  Just after midnight, call your friends and family from Kiribati and let them know what the future holds!

Anywhere – Of course, any place you plan to go is bound to be a thrilling New Years experience.  At Flutter FETTI, we know that the best way to celebrate the occasion is with a handful of 14″ Flutter FETTI Confetti Sticks, GUARANTEED to make every event extra special!  If you wish to add the “WOW!” effect to your New Years Eve celebration, contact one of our confettiologists and we’ll make the right product recommendation for you.
